Following are excerpts of daily activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:

Sunday, Nov. 30: At 7:02 am a deputy assisted a motorist in the ditch on N Ave near 110th St in Dawson Township. At 8:34 am a deputy, Scranton fire, and Greene County Ambulance responded to a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 30 near 215th St (per sheriff’s report). Doyle Welch of Mississippi was operating a 2007 Peterbilt semi northbound on Hwy 30. Cael Mathias of Hornick was operating a 2010 Ford Fusion southbound. Mathias lost control and struck the semi. There were no injuries. Mathias was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to each vehicle was estimated at $10,000.
At 7:36 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson police department with a harassment complaint in the 300 block of W. Lincoln Way. At 9:13 pm Ethan Blackmon, 29, of Nashville was booked into the jail on charges of simulated public intoxication and harassment- first degree*. At 9:18 pm a deputy investigated single-vehicle accident at Sparky’s. Craig Kinsey of Jefferson was pulling a trailer with an excavator and struck the canopy above the gas pumps. The estimated damage to the canopy is $50,000. At 10:36 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson police department with a domestic assault in the 600 block of Sunset Rd.
Saturday, Nov. 29: At 2:20 am Ashleigh Messer, 36, was booked into the jail on a charge of theft- first degree*. At 12:20 pm a deputy assisted a motorist whose vehicle was in the ditch on Hwy 4 near 270th St south of Jefferson. At 6:39 pm a deputy assisted a motorist whose vehicle was in the ditch on U Avenue near 280th St south of Grand Junction.
Friday, Nov. 28: At 2:48 pm a deputy, Churdan fire, Jefferson fire, and Greene County Ambulance responded to a two-vehicle accident on D Ave near 140th St in Cedar Township. Kevin Reiter of Lake City was northbound on D Ave operating a 2016 Ford Fusion. Dillon Johnson of Fort Dodge was southbound on D Ave operating a 2008 Ford Explorer. Johnson entered the northbound lane and struck Reiter head on. Johnson was extricated from the vehicle and transported with serious injuries. Both vehicles were totaled in the accident. Johnson was cited for driving while license suspended and failure to maintain control.
Thursday, Nov. 27: At 7:59 pm a deputy assisted the Carroll County sheriff’s 0ffice with a single-vehicle accident on Apple Ave near 310th St in Willow Township.
Wednesday, Nov. 26: At 12:07 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson police department with a domestic assault in the 100 block of E. Central Ave in Jefferson. At 12:32 pm a deputy assisted the Dallas County sheriff’s office with a single-vehicle accident in the 2400 block of U Ave in Washington Township. At 2:16 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 30 and J Ave west of Jefferson. Sandra Cobb of Jefferson was operating a 2004 F150 northbound on J Ave. Christine Lass of Scranton was eastbound on Hwy 30 operating a 2006 Ford Expedition when Cobb failed to stop as posted and struck her vehicle. Cobb was cited for failure to yield the right of way while entering a through highway. Damage to her pickup truck was estimated at $5,000. Damage to Lass’ vehicle exceeded value. There were no injuries. At 10:33 pm Donald Fishburn, 53, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of domestic abuse assault, failure to provide financial liability, eluding, interference with official acts, and no valid driver’s license*.
Tuesday, Nov. 25: At 7:40 am Jay Orsack, 58, of Churdan was booked into the jail on a charge of assault causing bodily injury*. At 11:03 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 900 block of Locust St in Scranton.
Monday, Nov. 24: At 12:18 pm David Janssen, 62, of Churdan was booked into the jail on a charge of animal neglect*. At 7:18 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction.
Sunday, Nov. 23: At 11:44 am Anthony Arbuckle, 41, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail on a charge of disorderly conduct*.
Saturday, Nov. 22: At 6:57 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway in the 1800 block of 230th east of Jefferson. At 8:42 am Leeroy Steadman, 24, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail for probation violation*. At 3:55 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in the 600 block of E. Hager St in Grand Junction.
Friday, Nov. 21: No time given, Veronica Ellsberry, 41, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail on a charge of theft- third degree*.
Thursday, Nov. 20: At 4:13 pm a deputy attempted to catch a dog running at large on Hwy 4 near 310th St in Franklin Township. At 4:45 pm a deputy investigated a fight in the jail. Charges are pending investigation.
Wednesday, Nov. 19: At 11:46 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an accident on Hwy 30 near Mulberry St west of Jefferson. At 8:11 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Hwy 30 near G Ave. At 8:37 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 300 block of Hendricks St in Rippey.
Tuesday, Nov. 18: At 5:56 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Hwy 4 near 190th St. Joseph Stouffer of Perry stuck a deer with a 2011 Subaru Outback. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $8,000. At 11:25 pm Roger Ketchum, 37, of Fort Dodge was booked into the jail on a charge of possession of marijuana-second offense*.
Monday, Nov. 17: At 2:19 am a deputy investigated a report of cattle near the railroad tracks near 185th St and U Ave north of Grand Junction. At 8:32 am a deputy investigated a complaint of manure on the roadway on Hwy 4 near 290th St in Franklin Township. At 10:42 am Travis Armstrong, 36, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of violation of probation, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia*.
Sunday, Nov. 16: At 8 pm Dawn Maiers, 43, of Ames was booked into the jail on charges of ongoing criminal conduct, unauthorized use of a credit card, and dependent adult abuse.*
Saturday, Nov. 15: At 4:54 am Tamara Mills, 45, of Rippey was booked into the jail on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, controlled substance violation, possession of marijuana- third offense, possession with intent methamphetamine, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance- third offense*. At 3:16 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 900 block of Cedar St in Scranton. At 5:37 pm a deputy investigated a ditch fire on 330th St near H Ave in Greenbrier Township. At 7:33 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on D Ave near 310th St in Willow Township. At 8:25 pm Stacie Renz, 57, of Somers was booked into the jail on a charge of public intoxication.*
Friday, Nov. 14: At 12:18 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in the 900 block of Cedar St in Scranton. At 3:34 pm a deputy assisted with donkeys on the roadway in the 1500 block of U Ave south of Grand Junction.
Thursday, Nov. 13: At 12:16 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 600 block of Jay St in Churdan. At 6:36 pm a deputy removed a deer from 170th St and N Ave north of Jefferson. At 8:27 pm a deputy investigated an illegal burn in the 800 block of 8th St Scranton.
Wednesday, Nov. 12: At 9:19 am a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 700 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. At 4:13 pm Blaze Rodriguez of Carroll was booked into the jail on charges of public intoxication and consuming alcohol in public*. At 6:32 pm Elaine Norgart, 58, of Pisgah was booked into the jail on a charge of theft- fifth degree*. At 9:18 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Hwy 30 near J Avenue west of Jefferson. Joshua Green of Carroll struck a deer with a 2017 Nissan Altima, causing an estimated $1,500 in damage to the vehicle.
Tuesday, Nov. 11: At 1:55 am Eric Winger, 45, of Churdan was booked into the jail on a charge of harassment- third degree*. At 10:18 am a deputy, Greene County Ambulance, and Churdan Fire and Rescue responded to a two-vehicle accident on D Ave near 140th St west of Churdan. Ryan Minnehan of Churdan was operating a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on D Ave. John Mosher of Florida had slowed to turn onto D Ave from 140th St when Minnehan rear ended his vehicle. Damage to Mosher’s 2025 Toyota was estimated at $8,000. Damage to Minnehan’s truck was estimated at $2,500. At 2:50 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 500 block of Livingston St in Churdan. At 6:10 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Hwy 30 near Pioneer Ave east of Jefferson. Danny Owens Jr was eastbound driving a 2016 Mack semi tractor-trailer when he struck a deer, throwing the deer heading into a 2022 Ford Escape operated by Samantha Sutton. Damage to the semi was estimated at $1,500 dollars. Damage to the Ford Escape was estimated at $2,500. At 9:48 pm Anthony Nunez, 58, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of violation of a no contact order and domestic abuse assault- enhanced*.
Monday, Nov. 10: At 8:34 am Greene County Sheriff’s staff, Grand Junction Fire and Rescue, and Greene County Ambulance responded to a four-vehicle accident on Hwy 30 near 16th Street in Grand Junction. Dennis Smalley of Jefferson was westbound on Hwy 30 operating 2014 Freightliner semi loaded with grain. A juvenile was also westbound, driving a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu. The juvenile was stopped, waiting to turn left onto 16th St when Smalley, not seeing the vehicle because of the sun in his eyes, struck the rear of the Malibu. The Malibu flipped and came to rest on its roof in the north ditch, strewing debris The flying parts struck a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse and a 2026 Tesla. Two persons were injured and were transported by Greene County Ambulance and Grand Junction Rescue to Greene County Medical Center. Smalley was cited for following too close. Damage to the Malibu exceeded value. Damage to the Freightliner was estimated at $20,000. Damage to the other two vehicles was less than $1,500 each. At 12:04 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 700 block of Lincoln St in Scranton.
Sunday, Nov. 9: At 2:08 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1600 block of 170th St in Hardin township.
Saturday, Nov. 8: At 1:31 pm a deputy and Scranton Fire responded to a vehicle fire in the 1200 block of E Ave north of Scranton. The semi was a total loss.
Friday, Nov. 7: At 4:17 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway in the 1600 block of 235th St east of Jefferson. At 7:21 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway in the 1600 block of 235th St east of Jefferson. At 1:08 pm Colton Tate, 30, of Ames was booked into the jail for operating while intoxicated*. At 6:57 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 600 block of Hills Ave in Churdan. At 8:54 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 600 block of N Avenue in Paton Township.
Thursday, Nov. 6: At 8:42 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 1200 block of Main St in Scranton. At 12:34 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 700 block of Madison St in Scranton. At 5:34 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Hwy 30 near K Ave west of Jefferson. Theresa Lawson of Jefferson struck a deer with a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, causing an estimated $6,500 in damage to the vehicle. At 6:34 pm Paul Millang, 61, of Ogden was booked into the jail on a charge of simulated public intoxication*.
Wednesday, Nov. 5: At 8:20 am Wylie Zellers, 22, of Idaho was booked into the jail on charges of carrying weapons while intoxicated and operating while intoxicated*. At 11:18 am Rickie Tuhn, 64, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of assault*. At 11:34 am the sheriff’s office and the Jefferson police department responded to a suspicious person near the middle school in Jefferson. At 2:36 pm Andrew Wempe, 42, of Scranton was booked into the jail on charges of child endangerment and possession of a controlled substance*. At 4:36 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 400 block of Sand St in Churdan.
Tuesday, Nov. 4: At 12:52 am a deputy arrested Nicholas Walther of Minnesota in a stolen vehicle on Hwy 30 near T Ave west of Grand Junction. Walther was charged with theft- first degree, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, open container, and no valid driver’s license*. He was later booked into the county jail. At 1:49 am the sheriff, a deputy, and a Jefferson Police officer responded to the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction for a complaint of assault.
Monday, Nov. 3: At 9:24 am a deputy assisted with a dog running at large on Hwy 30 and J Ave west of Jefferson. At 9:42 pm Brandon Ray, 25, of Boone was booked into the jail on a charge of burglary- third degree*.
Sunday, Nov. 2: At 1:53 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 500 block of S. Wise St in Paton. At 5:30 pm Jared Ransom, 45, of Denison was booked into the jail on charges of operating while intoxicated and child endangerment*. At 9:20 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson Police Department in responding to a complaint of a domestic assault in the 600 block of N. Oak St in Jefferson. At 10:37 pm Terry Groesbeck, 45, of Eagle Grove was booked into the jail on charges of operating while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia*. At 11:48 pm Ryan Oclair, 28, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury and harassment- first degree*.
Saturday, Nov. 1: At 12:52 am Jon Strabley, 26, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail on charges of operating while intoxicated and consuming alcohol in a public place*. At 7:57 am a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction.
